TEST SPECIFICATION
Description. : - White Crystalline Powder
Solubility : - Freely soluble in Water, sparingly soluble in alcohol
Identification by IR : - a) Melting point is 226 to 230 deg cent
b) IR – concordant with RS
c) An intense green florescence is produced
d) Violet colour is produced
e) 0.5 ml of solution S gives reaction with Sodium
Appearance of Solution : - Dissolve 5 g in 25 ml water. The solution should be clear and colorless
Acidity or alkalinity : - NLT 4.5 ml and NMT 5.5 ml of 0.01 M of NaOH is required
o- and p- Toluenesulphonamide : - o-Toluenesulphonamide : NMT 10 ppm
P-Toluenesulphonamide : NMT 10 ppm
Heavy metals : - Max 20 ppm
Water : - Max 15.0%
